If You See One Of These Bugs In Your Home, Go To Your Doctor Immediately

Take a good look at this bug, and remember what it looks like! If you ever see something that resembles it, stay far away! The insect is known commonly as “the kissing bug”, but it’s scientific name is triatominae. Other commonly-used names are: cone-nose bugs, cinches, assassin bugs, and vampire bugs.

These bugs feed on blood at night, and are called “kissing bugs” because they prefer to attack around the mouth or eyes. They’ve become a somewhat-new threat to the U.S., but are also seen in Australia, Asia, and Africa. They’re easily identifiable by the band around the edge of their body, striped with orange or red markings.
