The guinea pig, or sometimes known as the cavy, is an adorable species of rodent. Despite what it’s name would suggest, they are not a species of pig, nor do they originate from Guinea. In Western societies, they have become widespread in popularity as a common household pet.
Their docile nature, relative ease of care, and sometimes even affectionate responses to humans caring for them, makes them a simple and pleasant pet to have.
